Is Anybody Listening in 2017?

Oh my! Here we are in the New Year, and it’s hard to believe that we are already a month into 2017.  Where does the time go?  Where DID it go?  Where did 2016 go?

There are an infinite number of answers to those questions.  For me, however, 2016 was defined by three words:  “Is Anybody Listening?”

Simple Praise for Thanksgiving

wheat-field-harvest-sunset

I love this time of the year.  It’s a season for gratefulness.  It’s a season for giving gratitude for the harvest of thought, action and progress manifested in our lives!

One of my favorite songs in my sacred repertoire, “Simple Praise,” is one that I performed many times in church as well as recorded on my “Story For The Ages” CD.  It seems absolutely fitting to share with you now.

Just click the link below and listen to my full recording of “Simple Praise” by Craig Courtney and Pamela Martin.

Spring Renewal: A Walk In The Snow

Spring 2016b

I love the renewal that comes with each season.  I especially love the sense of rebirth when Spring starts to show her beautiful self to us each year.

Renewal always signifies to me the opportunity to start fresh, get a clean slate, do some “spring” cleaning, and clear out all of the cobwebs.

This line of thought always leads me to thinking about life here on earth and its continuous cycle of change as expressed in nature.  That, of course, leads me further into more spiritual realms until finally, it makes me stand still and face the concept of life or … Life with a capital “L”.

So … Life.  (more…)

Deep Waters

DeepWaters
“Sometimes we are lucky enough to know our lives have been changed, to discard the old and embrace the new and run headlong down an immutable course. It happened to me… on that summer’s day when my eyes were opened to the sea.”
~Jacques Yves-Cousteau

=======================================================

DEEP WATERS, my latest project, is a gorgeous new CD composed and conceived by Peter Link.  It is a suite of 3 songs surrounded by hauntingly beautiful orchestral interludes.

From the very beginning of this project, I found myself submersed in the watery metaphor of the mariner’s tale that pervades this piece.  I realized through the course of this work that in my own life I have observed the metaphor, lived it, and come out the other side.  I believe most of us have when we think about the individual stories of our lives. Spring 2013 Update

Blog newsletter banner
To My Readers:
Just as we head into summer, I give you my Spring 2013 Newsletter.  It’s a snapshot update from January to April.  This was delivered as a newsletter to my email list and never made it on to my blog.  Please forgive this apparent neglect. Life got going fast with touring, recording and major shifts at my parent company, Watchfire Music.  I found myself in deep with it all!  So here’s a catch up of what’s been going on.
Coming up next: New CD, DEEP WATERS, to be released June 11th
and a blog article on … applause!

spring100Has spring swept you off of your feet yet with warm breezes? Here in NYC, in between 40-degree days, Mother Nature keeps throwing us little bursts of the warm weather to come. I can’t wait for it to officially arrive! But I can’t complain, either …

The first quarter of 2013 was filled with great music and diverse, wonderful audiences in diverse, wonderful places. Click here to check out where I’ve been: Notes from the Road: First Quarter 2013.

Silk Road – Part 7: It’s Here!

SilkRoad_400px

Yes, it’s here!  I’m excited!  Today marks the first full day out in the world for
SILK ROAD – Inspirational Journeys Across Planet Earth.

Having officially released this new CD just last night, I’m feeling grateful and, I admit, anxious over my newborn.  I’m celebrating, and fluttering nervously over my babe!  It’s been quite a journey getting this child out into broad daylight.  I want her to feel GOOD in the sun!

Well, like any parent, made new again by this new arrival, the new adventure begins!  This new CD gets to live and breathe in the world.  My hope and intention is that it will open some hearts and provoke some thoughtful responses at the very least.  (To read the first 6 parts of this blog series, click here.)

The creation process of this CD has certainly changed me.  It brought me further along in my own personal and artistic evolution.  I think that’s the most important part for me: Evolution.  I don’t EVER want to stop learning, exploring and discovering …

This project, SILK ROAD, symbolizes my quest to keep doing just those things.

Before I go any further, though, it seems like I ought to talk a little about the title song, Silk Road.  It’s the third track on the CD.  That’s an important spot on any album.
