Have I Got A Song For You! — Part 1

JuliaList_thbSong Repertoire – that’s the business I’m in.  As a performer, and specifically as an inspirational singer, I am constantly searching for that next great piece of music that “fits” with the theme of the sermon, or highlights a text from Scripture, or tells a well-known Bible story in an inspiring way.

I am a hunter/gatherer and I love the hunt!  Searching for each gem of a song is indeed a treasure hunt, always an adventure.

During the last four years it has been an exciting privilege to share a lot of great music in my position as soloist with an international congregation.  I have received many emails from soloists, church musicians, musical directors and church music committees wanting to have a copy of my Repertoire List so that they might share this music with their own congregation.

Well… Finally…  The List is now available!

It’s called “Solo Thoughts Special Edition: Julia’s List 2005 – 2008.” “Julia’s List” is part of a quarterly and monthly music research publication called “Solo Thoughts.” (We’ll get the 2009 Update out later on this year.)

You can check out “Julia’s List” and get it by visiting the Solo Thoughts page of http://www.watchfiremusic.com.

This list is for ANYONE interested in bringing a wide range of great solo Inspirational music to their worship services.

Over 150 songs are listed alphabetically with descriptive commentary by Solo Thoughts editor Susan Lindquist. Composer, lyricist and publisher information is provided as well as suggestions for to where to obtain each piece of music.

So back to The List:  I have loved performing this music – I truly hope that you will enjoy sharing it with your worship service and congregation.  To check it out and to download it, visit Solo Thoughts on Watchfire Music. Scroll down the page to Solo Thoughts Special Edition:  Julia’s List.

So do I have a song for you?  You bet!

Singing Siyahamba with the World New Hymns: An Open Letter

Annual Meeting was in June. The Siyahamba (closing) is captured on my computer. Each time the grandkids (aged 2 and 4) walk in they ask to hear and watch “we are walking”. As it progresses Elias says “now where are we going grampa?”. He knows but asks and his big sister (Nai`a) answers. They love it and so do we. You and Peter have made a lasting memory. Yesterday we were in a meeting in Truckee, CA and we closed with hymn 460. What a greatly simple and profoundly insightful message. Thanks a million times over. Joe Beckwith/1st Church South Lake Tahoe/home in Genoa, NV.
