Welcome To Inspiratus!
This blog is about Inspirational music and beyond!
So, what is Inspiratus? It is the Latin root word for Inspiration: “to blow or breathe into or upon, to inspire; an inspiring influence.”
I chose this name because I love to think of this influence or breath of Inspiration being present in our lives to draw upon – at all times! Inspiration, too, draws us in. Maybe it’s all the same process, depending on how you look at it.
I am inspired to write about this subject and to relate my experiences as an inspirational soloist and concert artist. I also am deeply involved with my record company, Watchfire Music — both as an artist and as a key player in developing the Digital Sheet Music area of www.watchfiremusic.com.
There’s much to discuss with you! Please jump into the conversation. I look forward to engaging in dialogue with friends and fans who have written in asking questions about all of the above. Also, I am going to feature guest composers, artists and colleagues who will weigh in things we are discussing. So stay tuned as we get this blog rolling.

Julia: So good to hear from you. I’ve been loving ordering digital sheet music for our Church here in Santa Fe (I’m Music Chair)…Peter Link, Mindy Jostyn, Solo Commmittee, Robert Collister, etc. A solo I did last week, however, did not go over well: “From A Distance”. A member said you sang it recently. Just want to confirm that so I can pass it on!! People had problem with the lyric “From a Distance…” Much Love, kristie

Hi Kristie! Thanks for the update on ordering sheet music for your church on WatchfireMusic.com. We’re so glad that you are finding songs for your congregation.
You mentioned “From A Distance.” Is this the Julie Gold song sung by the one of my fave’s,Bette Midler? That is the only song of that title that I am familiar with. I love this song. I know and love Julie Gold — wonderful New York singer/songwriter!! I can tell you that I have not sung this song any time recently in or out of church — or any song that resembles that title. Maybe you can give me more info — composer, lyricist and also the first few lines of the song. I’d like to help.
Also, you really got me thinking, so check out my latest blog post — inspired by you!
All best to you!
J

Hi Julia! I’m new to Watchfire Music and to your Inspiratus. I am currently (music com. chr.) and soloist for our local CS Society. We have no music accompaniment. I’ve been very busy trying to find accompaniment cd’s for my solos. I’m interested in purchasing your latest cd, and am wondering, if there is any way i can get a solo accompaniment cd. Open for any suggestions you may have. Thank you for your time.
With Gratitude,
Julia

Hey fellow Julia!
Thanks so much for writing. At this moment, we do not have accompaniment tracks available for my CDs, but we hope to have those in the near future. In the meantime, there are indeed a lot of simple performance accompaniment tracks as well as highly produced ones out there.
Here are a some ideas, which you may or may not already know about:
1. Check out Peter B. Allen’s site, pbamusic.com. He has wonderful vocal solos with excellent piano accompaniment CDs.
2. Lloyd Larson has a beautiful solo book, “The Birthday of a King” with orchestral accompaniment tracks. He is published by Lorenz Publishing (see lorenz.com).
3. Craig Courtney also has great piano acc. CDs to go with some of his vocal solo books. Check beckenhorstpress.com.
4. Sally Deford offers many lovely solos, many with downloadable performance tracks. Check her site defordmusic.com.
5. Robert Collister offers mp3 performance downloads on watchfiremusic.com.
6. Also, do you know about Solo Thoughts? It is a resource for CS churches published quarterly and monthly, giving solo suggestions for each Bible Lesson Sermon. Check it out on watchfiremusic.com. Just go the site and put “Solo Thoughts” in the search box. You can download free pdf samples to explore.
7. On the Solo Thoughts page on watchfiremusic.com, you can find my list, “Julia’s List: 2005 -2008″ which gives a comprehensive list of solos I sang during that time period, along with where to find them.
There’s A LOT more out there, but these will get you started.
Enjoy your exploration, and let me know if I can be of further help.
Thanks for saying hello, Julia!
